The project focuses on addressing the trust issues faced by users on Internshala due to the presence of fraudulent company profiles.

Context

"Finding trustworthy opportunities made easy!"

Though there are several jobs listed on the platform, as a student, it is difficult to distinguish between actual and fraudulent organisations, resulting in frustration and a waste of time. This is partly because the platform currently lacks a method to verify the genuineness of the companies listed on it.

Problem statement

So what went wrong ?

Students and early-career professionals face trust issues on platforms due to unverified company profiles, unclear job type segregation and the lack of an review system. These gaps make it hard to assess work environments, differentiate job types, and trust listings.

User research

It all begins with people

It all started with conversations about job search experience in Internshala, with individuals actively seeking internships and jobs.

After conducting 25 face-to-face interviews with individuals navigating the challenges of finding internships and job opportunities, agnostic of the Internshala platform, here’s what I found:

Challenges identified

  • Inconsistent  profile verification-

Company profiles aren’t consistently verified, causing trust issues. Verifying them manually is both exhausting and time-consuming.

  • Time wasted searching for reviews & ratings-

Users struggle to find reviews and ratings, leading to frustration and wasting user efforts.

  • Time wasted in job search navigation-

Users struggle to find relevant job opportunities due to poor search filters, causing frustration.

How might we statement

After identifying the challenges users face in finding verified companies, reviews in the Internshala, I am crafting a ‘How Might We’ statement to help users gain better trust, clarity, and efficiency in their job and internship search process.

  • How might we create a seamless and transparent job application platform that enhances trust and empowers users with insights?
  • How might we streamline the job application process from discovery to decision-making?

    The existing recents section

I designed the Internshala website to improve usability and boost user engagement. Key enhancements included introducing diverse card styles and implementing company verification, making the job search process more seamless. I explored multiple design iterations and implemented the most user-friendly solution.

After clicking "Apply Now," the page transitions to the resume section, where the details are pre-filled using the resume previously uploaded on the profile page.

After the resume page, the application proceeds to the availability confirmation page. Here, candidates can specify their joining status and upload a custom resume if needed.

Exploration- 1

Initially, the section displayed only 5 job postings, but now it dynamically shows 5 roles tailored to filters like 'FinTech' and 'B2B'.

Exploration- 2

A job card that smartly shows role details, company type, and hiring status to help users easily explore opportunities.

Exploration- 3

A verified job card that clearly highlights role details, hiring status, and company type for easy decision-making.

Exploration- 4

A job opening for a product designer in Navi Mumbai, focused on skilled designer and teamwork, with a quick response time of 4 days.

Final design

Effortless Job Discovery

Discovering job roles made easy—find the most relevant jobs tailored to your skills and experience, with clear details about responsibilities, qualifications, and company insights for informed decisions.

My learnings

Retrospective

This project was full of hard work, exploration, and discussions. It's tough to sum up everything I learned, but here are the key takeaways.

Fresh Perspective on a New Domain

Diving into the world of internships and job search was exciting and challenging. My fresh perspective helped me approach design challenges with unbiased thinking and bring unique ideas to the table. Understanding Internshala's users was key. Interacting with students and employers helped me identify pain points and design solutions that truly met their needs.
